Gerard Pique`s home in Catalonia was attacked. Activists of the left-wing youth organization Arran, associated with the radical left Catalan party CUP and advocating the independence of Catalonia and a number of other autonomous regions in eastern Spain, entered the territory near the house of the ex-Barcelona player in the Cerdany region of the province of Girona.
The attackers painted the walls with slogans and calls, including the phrase: Down with the dudes. Video of the attack appeared on the organization`s social networks.
The action was part of a protest against the tourist culture in the Pyrenees, which, according to activists, leads to rising housing prices and a decrease in the living standards of local residents.
We are going on the offensive against the tourist monoculture that is strangling the Pyrenees, against the rich, rentiers and speculators who make life unbearable.
