Claudio Ranieri explained why he decided to become Roma head coach again. The Italian club from today soccer games officially announced the appointment of a 73-year-old specialist as head coach.
Ranieri will manage the team until the end of the season, after which he will take up the position of sports consultant at Roma.
Before we move on to your questions, I want to dot all the i`s right away. I finished my coaching career and I have to say that during these months I had more offers than after winning the [Premier League] title with Leicester.
But I always said that I would return only in two cases: for Roma or Cagliari. Fate wanted me to be back home with Cagliari, where I started and completed my coaching career.
But perhaps fate decided otherwise: I started my playing career on our site [at Roma], and I will end it on our site as a coach and manager. It was important for me to clarify this, " said Claudio Ranieri.
Previously, the specialist coached Roma during two periods of his career - from 2009 to 2011 and in 2019.
This season, the Romans occupy 12th place in the Serie A standings, gaining 13 points after 12 rounds. Ranieri will become the team`s third coach this season - after Daniele de Rossi and Ivan Juric.
