Olympic champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova answered how serious the knee injury was, due to which she finished last season ahead of schedule.
- I had problems with my knee for more than a year, and all of 2021 I played with pain. But since I was on the rise, showing good results predicted by

Last year I came to Australia, took a [positive] covid test and stuck in my room, realizing that I am in very good shape for these tournaments and very confident. But then the condition of the knee worsened. When I went to the court, the knee had a hard time.
After that I went to play in St. Petersburg. During the tournament, I took a lot of painkillers. It was stupid, but I got used to doing it to cope. Then they stopped helping. It still hurt.
- I had 10 weeks of rest, and they told me that this should be enough to return to a fairly good shape. I went to Madrid, and the pain remained the same. The doctor said: Be patient, because the knee may still hurt, this is normal, do not worry. That`s why I went to play in Rome.
But I kept it in my head, was completely lost, confused and depressed, because I thought that I had done everything necessary. Confidence was at zero. I didn`t feel like I was in good shape.
