Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams has said he was opposed to the club recruiting Nicolas Pepe from Lille last summer. The then manager of the team Unai Emery thought that the team needed reinforcements on the wings, fighting the competition for the striker`s signature. However, Adams thinks that the `gunners` should have invested their money in attracting players who play in other positions.
`To be honest, I was very much against attracting Pepe, because we had Bakayoko Saka, who had to, Eduard Nketia, Reese Nelson, Gabriel Martinelli. We had a lot of teenagers who had time to play, and you went to buyPepe for 72 million pounds, I thought we could invest in other areas, `Adams told Stadiom Astro.
Pepe had an impressive season last campaign when he scored 23 goals and 11 assists for Lille. After moving to the Emirates, however, the Frenchman started poorly and scored only once in his first 15 Premier League games. In total, Pepe scored 8 goals and 9 assists in 40 games according
